Abstract
Small and medium enterprises are though individually small but they have emerged as a dynamic sector in Punjab. Setback due to partition, proximity to Indo-Pak border, locational disadvantage made Punjab a latecomer in the field of industrialization. In spite of adverse situations, small and medium enterprises have emerged as a dynamic sector in Punjab. They are contributing more to exports from Punjab as compared to large enterprises. But despite their significant contribution, they are still not availing maximum advantage of export credit delivery system. RBI has framed diversified export credit schemes suiting the needs of all exporters and it issues guidelines in the form of master circulars to commercial banks for successful implementation of the schemes. A content analysis of master circulars for the year 2011-2014 has been made and various schemes available for SMEs have been presented in the paper.
