Abstract
HRM as a function in management has undergone considerable changes and is continuing to undergo changes in the post liberalization era. This study aims to understand how a person in the middle management positions in HR, cope up to the dynamism and what they do to constantly progress in their career. Through elicitation interview, items were identified and based on the knowledge, an interview was conducted with HR professionals. The middle level managers who are operational specialists will have to move to a broader perspective to rise to strategic levels and advance their career. Identifying skill sets required by the specific industry and networking required for progression should become a personal agenda for drawing road map to achieve career advancement.
