Abstract
Work stress has dire consequences
both for the employee
and the organization. Personenvironment
(P-E) fit models
capture the specific effects of the
transaction between the individual
and the environment. On
the contrary, match models of
stress are universal in nature, and
describe the relationship between
various job characteristics. Demand
induced strain compensation
(DISC) is one such match
model, which describes a triple
match between job demands, job
resources and strain. This paper,
reviews both P-E fit and DISC
models, and then integrates both
the models to develop a comprehensive
work stress model.
