Abstract
The information and techniques of experimental analysis of hydrodynamic journal bearing with respect to bearing characteristic number is limited. The present work emphasized on the effect of bearing characteristic number (S) with respect to bearing modulus and position of minimum film thickness. The work is carried out for different pressure heads under varying parametric conditions. The results suggest that the bearing with appropriate bearing modulus and approximate film thickness enables improvement in journal bearing analysis. Furthermore, deep numerical analysis of the complete experimentation suggests the need of evaluating the above design parameters in detail. The article also aims also to provide the efficient way to perform the experiment taking in consideration of calibration and accuracy of the system.
