Abstract
One way of making efficient use of spectrum is employing cognitive radio. Spectrum sensing is a key function of cognitive radio to prevent the harmful interference with licensed users and identify the available spectrum for improving spectrums utilization. The aim of this paper is to make the comparative study of performance of energy detection over various fading channels such as Rayleigh, Rician and Nakagami with no diversity are studied. Also average detection of probability with diversity reception schemes such as equal gain combining, selection combining and switch and stay combining are studied with missed detection probability are studied through simulation, which improves the detection probability.
